Team of the Week
SYA Synergy White

SYA Synergy White Soccer Fights against Hunger

SYA Synergy White U10 Girls Travel Soccer team concluded their successful Fall 2009 season by volunteering an afternoon at Food for Others.  The girls spent their time stocking shelves full of critical food supplies and then packed emergency food boxes preparing them for distribution. (Food for Others is the largest distributor of free food directly to people in need in Northern Virginia, and provides the assistance vitally needed by our unemployed and low-income neighbors)  Synergy White would like to thank their sponsors, Phoenix Consulting Group, Silverpointe Events and Marketing, and the Fairfax Coalition of Police for giving them the opportunity to do a project like this.  It was the perfect ending to a season that saw them finish as runners-up in the Richmond Cup, semi-finalists in the Battlefield Classic and go 7-1-2 in their WAGS season.

During multiple weeks, students benefit from our progressive training sessions. Our emphasis with these players is first and foremost to build their confidence level and to ensure they enter the tryout field prepared mentally and physically. Our second goal is to work to develop their technical and tactical skills in areas of particular importance to high school soccer coaches. The following areas are emphasized during the duration of our sessions, performing under pressure and in tight spaces, advanced technical repetition, improving tactical decision making, physical endurance and Speed Agility and Quickness training.

On Mondays individual Goalkeeper training will be provided by Billy Warren (SYA Soccer’s goalkeeping director), on Wednesdays the goalkeepers will work in with outfield players working on foot skills, kicking, communication, organizing a defense, decision making and game like situations.
