Special thanks to Taylor and Rachel Avery for organizing and running this program
Not only did we have great competition at the 2008 Cardinal Cup, a great cause was helped by collecting gently used soccer equipment. This equipment will then be sent to children in need in Northern Iraq and other areas. The Pass Back equipment collected over the Cardinal Cup weekend was: 171 pairs of cleats, 125 soccer balls, over 75 complete uniform kits, and lots of other usable clothing and equipment.
Our first distribution has been sent to a city in Northern Iraq and should arrive any day now.
The Erbil Soccer Academy was presented with 25 soccer balls, 30 pairs of cleats, 25 complete SYA travel uniform kits, and other essential gear. The founder of the academy, Rick Nidel has been in touch with us and has presented Taylor and Rachel Avery, organizers of this program, with an Iraqi National Team kit in gratitude for our donation.
The academy program, for ages 6-12, has grown to 28 kids. They play on a small sided field that is aptly named "Field of Dreams". From Coach Rick: "Your continued support is most welcome. The boys in Iraq really love you all, even though they have never met you.
Below is a photo of some of the guys.
Thanks to all that made this donation and others possible.
