SYA appoints an Age Group Lead Coach in each age group. This person is the head coach of the top team and assists the other teams in the groups as needed. The Age Group Leads for 2013-14 are listed below, with a brief biography and an email address. Please don’t hesitate to contact them with questions about the SYA program in your child’s age group, tryouts, or any other questions you may have.

Disney Showcase Among the Options!
Entering our second year of participation in the ASL, the decision to join is looking better and better. We are excited to announce the 2013-14 Event Schedule for SYA's top U14- U18 teams:
Event #1 CCL College Showcase (Williamsburg VA) or Bethesda Showcase (MD - proposed)
Event #2 Disney Showcase (Florida)
Event #3 Triangle Friendlies (NC)
Event #4 Jefferson Cup (Richmond VA), Ultimate Cup (Richmond VA), LDC (Pennsylvania)
ASL Championships – June 2014, location TBD in the Northeast
(Teams will enter three of the four events listed below as their ASL schedule with the top teams advancing to the ASL Finals)
SYA Players Named to ASL All-Event Teams!
Congratulations ASL All-Event Players
After each game at all ASL events, coaches are asked to nominate two players from the opposing team. SYA teams participated in seven ASL brackets during the Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournaments in November, and one player from each of our teams was named to the All-Event team in his or her respective age group. Garnering honors were Emily Denton- 15G SYA Cardinals Red, Natalie Weare- 16G SYA FVC United, Kacey Wheeler- 17G FCV Heat, Ramez Bakhtari- 14B SYA Comets, Josh Lee- 15B SYA Cardinals Red, Jeff Cox- 16B SYA Ajax Red, and Jhonny de Souza Claros- SYA U17B Excel. The next event, the Triangle Friendlies, saw more SYA players honored: Gabriel Velasco of the U14 Comets and Conor Bloodworth of the U15B Cardinals Red and Jessica Wemberley of the U15G Cardinals Red. At the third event of the season, Ultimate Cup/ Jefferson Cup, the following players were selected: Conor Bloodworth- U15B Cardinals, Matt Lazor- U16B Ajax Red, and Kleyton Parkhurst, U17B Excel. For the girls, Jessica Wemberley from the U15 SYA Cardinals, Natalie Weare from the U16 SYA FCV United, and Quinn Costello-Mays from the U17 SYA FCV Heat were chosen.
SYA Joins new Club Championship League
Fairfax, Va. (March 23, 2013) - Fifteen distinguished soccer clubs in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, are proud to announce the formation of the new Club Champions League (CCL). The CCL model captures the best of the American soccer experience including elite regional competition, school and ODP soccer, State Cup, showcase and tournament play.

Registration and Payment Information for SYA Travel Soccer Players
SYA travel players selected for one of our travel teams will be sent an email explaining how to accept the position, complete the registration and pay the non refundable deposit. All travel soccer position must be accepted online. Parents have the option of paying with a credit card or by check.
Once a player has accepted a position and paid the initial registration fee, there are three remaining payments. Here is the link for rostered travel players to use for the remainder of the year:

Travel Soccer Payments are due on the following dates:
Club Dues #2: August 15
Club Dues #3: September 15
Club Dues #4: November 15
Please note that the payment must be received by the due date, or a late fee will be assessed.
